1. General
By accessing or using our services, including visiting our physical store, hiring or purchasing any graduation attire or accessories from MD Gowns (Merit Deeds), you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions outlined below. These terms apply to all customers, whether hiring or purchasing academic regalia.
2. Hiring Policy
- MD Gowns currently hires out Masters graduation gowns exclusively for UJ (University of Johannesburg) students.
- The full Masters hire set includes: Gown, Hood, UJ Stole, and Graduation Hat with Tassel.
- Rental Fee: R550 (Payable by card or cash upon collection; no deposit required).
- Collection & Return:
- Collection may be made a working day before or on the morning of your ceremony.
- Regalia must be returned on the same day after use unless prior arrangement is made.
- Extended Hire: R150 per additional day after due return date.
- Required Documentation: Please bring a hard/soft copy of your graduation letter and a valid ID upon collection.
- Bag Policy: Customers are expected to bring their own bag. Gown bags are available for purchase at R100.
- Hired regalia is strictly collected and returned at our store. No courier or ride-hailing (Uber/Bolt) services are permitted for rentals.
3. Sales Policy
- Gowns and accessories (caps, hoods, stoles, belts, certificate holders, etc.) are available for purchase for all institutions nationwide.
- All items sold are new, unless otherwise stated.
- Customised items (e.g., doctoral gowns, clerical robes, or institutional-specific colours) may have longer production timelines.
- Once payment is made, an order is considered final and processed.
4. Shipping Policy
- Delivery Fee: R200 (applies to orders within South Africa).
- Lead Time: 2–3 working days (excluding weekends and public holidays) after dispatch.
- Tracking information will be shared once the parcel has been shipped.
- MD Gowns is not liable for delays caused by third-party couriers.
5. Returns and Exchanges
- Hired items must be returned in the same condition they were issued. Any damage or loss will incur a penalty fee.
- Sales are final. Returns or exchanges will only be accepted for defective or incorrect items, and must be reported within 48 hours of receipt.
- All returns must be accompanied by proof of purchase.
6. Cancellation Policy
- Hires: If you need to cancel a hire, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance.
- Sales: Once a sales order has been processed or dispatched, it cannot be cancelled.
7. Privacy and Contact Information
Your personal data is securely stored and used only for order processing, communication, and updates related to your purchase or rental.
